Review: Model Box War Theme Unboxing

War what is is good for....Well if you subscribe to Model Box it will be very good for you as this months theme from this monthly subscription service is you guessed it War!

So whats in the box..

First up is a little leaflet explaining what you will received in the box  (don't look if you don't want to see spoilers)

First up are some minis from Warlord Games. These are put in each box randomly.
In this box I received a full unit of Japanese Bamboo Spear Fighters for bot action along with 10 round bases.

Every army needs a hero well from Stoessi's Heroes is a Japanese General (Tadamichi Kuribayashi)
This metal mini has some grate detail but be carful as it have some very tiny parts.

Next up and a cool addition is a Model Boxes exclusive mini which is the Mascot of Model Box his name is Rox.
The first Rox was a Wizard in Aprils Dungeon Box and as this is War he is now G.I Rox.
G.I Rox being two parts will easy enough to put together and clean up.

With all these minis you need paint right well Model Box has you covered with some paints from Vallejo which are perfect colours for the Japanese minis in this box.

And last but not least just in case your hungry while you painting some Haribo are provided..

So my thoughts...

Monthly boxes like this is a great way to get some different paints and minis that you may have never thought to try before it also gives you an excuse to paint something different.
I have had subscriptions before and they can be hit or miss but this box seems not to bad at all.

This War box seems about even in terms of value for money as the subscription is around £23.99 (not including postage) for a monthly repeat subscription and the contents works out just over this amount. The subscription is lower in price if you sign up for a year.

In the box I think the the leaflet is a good addition to explain a little about the companies that Model Box has used for the months box which is great exposure to smaller companies that Model box use. Its also gives a preview of next months box theme also.

The addition of the exclusive mini which is of the Model Box mascot Rox in the theme of the monthly box is a great little addition.
With the exclusive miniature In April which was a Wizard mini Model Box had a painting competition. This again adds to the experience of the subscription
Look out for a posable competition for G.I Rox.

To give you a taste what Model Box have released in previous months themes such as Dungeon, Myths & Legends and Invasion have been used with next months theme is Lost.

If your looking to mix up your wargaming experience and want to be surprised with different themes and minis each month its worth checking out Model Box.
