Hello again.

Its been a while as I have been a bit busy with work and life stuff so I have not had much time to hobby but it does brings me on to todays post.

We recently had a glorious Easter weekend which saw unusual for England some sunshine and warm weather. More importantly I had a bit of hobby time but not much which made me come up with a plan.

 I have been on a bit of a Mantic kick these last weeks and as I have just finished painting my new Northern Alliance warband for Vanguard I decided to get to work on the Terrain Crate Battlefield Objectives that are used in the scenarios for the game.

This week on the hobby desk I have gone through my grey pile list and decided to worked on my Northern Alliance warband for Vanguard as I really do want to get people trying out this game and its taken me a bit of time to get to these due to other games my gaming group are playing and if you are like me you painting and gaming revolves around that.

I visited Mantic HQ a few years ago now for the launch of Vanguard and it was a great day and it's a good game.

Review: Never Hollow Fantasy Terrain By The XLC

We are living in strange times at the moment but during this time the hobby community has come together and lots of companies are giving away free rules for us all to try to help pass the time.

D&D Nolzur's Marvelous Miniatures Vampire Review

I have been looking for a vampire miniature for a while now something that would lead my undead army in to battle.
Looking around the internet I saw some nice looking miniatures from Wizkids under the banner of D&D.

 

The pictures looked fantastic you get two in a pack with different poses plus they were at a good price I think I picked up this pack for £4.

The have a vast range of differnt miniatures and furniture that are advertised as pre primed ready to paint out of the box.

I think its time I get some paint on one of these..

Mantic Kings Of War Vanguard: Northern Alliance Warband Booster Set Review

After you have played a few games of Vanguard with your new Northern Alliance you may want to upgrade a get a few more miniatures to add magic or add a commander to your force.

Well your in luck as the Northern Alliance booster set has all this and a huge cavalry model.

Mantic Games have recently been updating their terrain range with Terrain Crate their new affordable plastic pre assembled terrain range.

As Vanguard launched Mantic have created through Terrain Crate 14 objectives and tokens which tie in with the scenarios in the Vanguard rule book.

As readers of this blog maybe aware I love terrain and have done a few projects with Mantic terrain in the past so I could not resist picking these objectives when I was at Mantic HQ.

So lets take look inside the box.

Titan Wargames Grulka Blackhand Dwarfs of Vorganash Review

As many of you who have been following my blog for the past couple of months I have been painting a lot of Dwarfs I mean a lot! Just look here.
I have managed to get my paint brush on many differnt manufacturers Dwarven creations but today I am getting the opptunuity to paint a female Dwarf called Grulka Blackhand from the nice people at Titan Wargames.

Badger, badger, badger, badger and dwarfs part 1

This video sums up what my minds been like the past few days..

Anyway I have been painting up some badgers from the Brock Riders kit from kings of war. Think angry badgers being ridden by angry dwarfs who like nothing more then hitting things.

The minis are in Mantic's rustic plastic resin mixture and from my experience with this from the Deadzone minis  I was worried this would be a difficult job.

Thats a lot of parts...

Well it was not that bad at all the dwarfs fit together really easily and so did the badgers but they did need some green stuff to fill some gaps.

  

  

Once all the minis were put together I started off by spray painting the dwarfs grey and set them aside while I sprayed the badgers black as this would speed up painting as they would be mainly black.

Slayers!

As you can see they like hitting things.

 
I used GW bone colour to dry brush all the badgers and then applied brown to the straps and bronze to the armour plates. Red was applied to the eyes and brown wash to finish off.

After that I started work on the bases and used the GW brown texture paint and dry brushed it again with bone and washed them in brown. I also added the army painter grass I bought from Salute and hey presto some badgers are ready to rock!

Next up are the Dwarf Slayers which are going to take a bit of time but I am looking forward to getting this angry mob out on the table top.

Continuing my Kings of War interests I was looking at the Dark Sphere web site (dangerous for the wallet I know) and picked up this fella to add to my Dwarf army.

His name is Norman the Dwarf Slayer.

Normans the name slayings the game.

I loved painting this guy and he has some great character to him just need to finish the base. I can't what to use him in some games of KOW.
