Review Art Of War: Nightvault/Shadespire Tokens

As many of you know who frequently visit my blog I have been enjoying playing Shadespire and I am  currently working my way through painting all the warbands.
One thing that I have notice playing is that all the tokens are all the same and sometimes you can get mixed up who's tokens are who's and theres not much individuality.

Well Art of War Studios may have the solution for you with their Shadespire/Nightvault compatible tokens.

Art of War Studios aim to design practical and beautiful tokens to make games easer. They believe in speeding up your gaming and make your gaming table look great.

Art of War Studios were kind enough to send me their Shadespire/Nightvault token set.
Lets take a look..

All the tokens arrived in a cardboard box and in a small bag where all the tokens have a protective covering on the back of the acrylic token and a paper protective layer on top where the token has been laser cut.

The token pack includes 56 tokens.
4 Activation tokens in light blue, 12 glory tokens in florescent yellow, 15 wound tokens in dark red, 8 guard tokens in dark grey, 8 moved tokens in light grey. 8 charged tokens in light grey and a magic scatter token in light blue.

All pictures below are of the tokens straight from the package.

The tokens are around 4mm thick and feel sturdy and durable so no problem if they fall of table or put in a plastic token organiser.

Here are some of the tokens close up.

Charged Token.

To keep costs at a minimum these tokens come unpainted which is not a problem at all as to use these tokens you can just peal all the protective paper so all the engraved areas are easily seen.

If you wanted to personalise the tokens you can use a wax crayon to fill in the gaps or paint over the paper layer where the token has been laser cut and peal it off after the paint drys like I did below.

As you can see all the tokens look vibrant and look great on the game board

Here are some in game pictures..

As you can see these look great next to the miniatures.

So my thoughts...

These tokens are well made with some really nice colour choices. They feel durable and look as though these will last a long time even if you have them rattling around in a storage box or are a bit heavy handed during play.

The cost is pretty reasonable at around £15 for the set and the option to use them right away or the choice to customise the engraved areas with differnt colours is a good idea. As Art of War Studios says this keeps the cost down to you but also allows you to choose a colour scheme you like.

Just looking at the pictures from the game above they add a little something to the game and some how makes the game board look even better.

I really like this token set and I look forward to using them more in my games but I know some of you may be happy with the tokens that already come with the core game which is fine but if your looking for something a little differnt then Art of War Studios has you covered.

If you are interested in these tokens or looking for tokens for other games such as Kill Team, Keyforge, Necromunda and a Song of Fire and Ice to name a few

They look great.

Not sure I will ever need to buy them as I get a load of new tokens every time I buy the new version of Underworlds ;0)

Those look great. Having them color coded is a nice touch as well. I got some acrylic tokens for Blood Bowl (another company), and I could see doing the same with Underworlds through these folks.
