Unboxing: Escape The Dark Castle Core Set from Themeborne Games

Today I am unboxing the core set of Escape The Dark Castle which was part of my Kickstarter pledge that arrived back in December.

I thought I would start with this as this is available to buy now from stores and as well as this allows you to play from 1-4 players. Yes that's right there's a solo play option too..

So lets take a look inside the box.

As you can see on the front cover you are greeted with the great art style that brings memories of old school dungeon crawlers and Fighting Fantasy books..

On the back of the box is all the contestants that are inside.
The box is made out of thick card so will protect all the components inside with no problems.

The box has a nice plastic vacuum formed compartments which fits all you cards, dice and pencil and paper.

The rule book is not long at all so very easy to quickly get started.

No dungeon crawler would be complete with out some paper and pens to track you health. Themeborne have though of all this by including an official designed note pad and pencils.

Opening up the 35 equipment cards you are greeted with more pictures that set you in the right mood for this game.
The card stock quality is really nice and doesn't feel like these will be worn out after a few plays.

There are 6 characters to choose from in the core set (there are more in the expansions but we will look at them another time)
You are going to have to choose wisely and use all your cunning, wisdom and might to Escape The Dark Castle alive..

There are plenty of adventure cards and 3 Boss cards which when playing will be randomly chosen when you start a game so no two games will ever be alike.
There are also more dice which will be needed so you know what you need to roll to defeat a obstacle or deadly foe.

Now unfortunately one of the dice seemed to have some of the black ink rubbed off but i'm sure it wont effect the game play.

So there we have it the core box set for Escape The Dark Castle.
I have tried not to spoil any surprise or any foes you may meet so you can experience the game your self.

Later on I will be unboxing the expansions and extra items I received from the Kickstarter but I would recommend picking this game up as its easy to set up and play but very tough to win!

I am off now to put these cards all in the nice official card sleeves.

Until next time..
