Painting and Hobby Update: The Last post Before Christmas

Hello everyone. Sorry there was not post last week this is due to ongoing building works that have not run the smoothest unfortunately.

With building work still going on this week I managed to get some time and started to think about projects for over the Christmas period and next year.

Blood Bowl! My light post Christmas hobby time

During the Christmas holidays I was lucky enough to get my hands on Blood Bowl and as is during the season you sit in front of the TV watching some re run of a show so I thought right I have had enough lets get my new Blood Bowl Minis out.

The minis look great and clicked together like the assault on black reach kit but with tons more detail and much easier to fit together.

You get the template sprue but also 4 spurs 2 for the human team and 2 for the Orc team. Both spurs  are the same so you get two of the same model design.

It was lucky that I bought some new clippers before chrsitmas which came in handy and I can tell you these were so easy to clip. I used some glue to make sure the mins won't go any where but to be honest you can get away with not doing that.

The character design  of the models are great the size of the Orcs are huge and their poses are menacing while the human team look slim compared.

Once all the parts were separated for each mini it did not take long to build the teams as the guide in the rule book is clear and it also helps you only need to click 3 bits together to make a model.

Here is some close ups of the human team.

Here are some close ups of the Orc team.

As I said you see there is tons of detail on these minis and they will be a treat to paint. The use of coloured plastic is also a great idea so you can play once you have built the minis right away and not get confused what minis what on the pitch.

Looking forward in Blood Bowls future today I have seen the new Dwarf Team from the Warhammer World open day and all I can say is this is that GW are on fire at the moment.

So now its time to get garb a cup of tea and get cracking on the rule book.

Games Games Games!

With Christmas on the horizon there seems to be a ton of games coming out...It seems we are being split for choice with the amount of plastic and metal on offer.

This summer I have been off loading lots of my toys that I know I won't use or play so this has freed up some funds and space.

As I was going through the news and updates on new games coming out I came across this.
Knight models came out with this Batman 2 player game with featuring the suicide squad move. I have had a go of this game before and have loved the models and I love batman of course.

With all that and the amount of minis and card board terrain you get I pressed the botton and order it. As I pre ordered I should also get bat flick batman to!

The models look awesome!

I have found out a few of my gaming buddies have a crew or are either interesting in starting so it looks promising to get this started...

Another game thats been popular over a year or two is guild ball and they are coming out with a 2 player box set full of goodies and at £40 at Dark sphere its a bargain if you want to start.

Now one game that is really anticipated is the return of Blood Bowl...

I can see this flying off the shelfs but I am hoping it comes in at around the £50 mark as this would compete with the guild ball price and also may tempt me......

But....

This is coming out in November and its a duel kit!

Victor and Conquest!

I must admit I am looking forward to seeing the kit as its in the new plastic which was great to use when I made the Grolar...This maybe on my christmas list but I better be a very good boy..failing that got to sell some more toys!

Salute Part 3 The Goodies...

After wondering the halls of Salute this year this is my haul......

So lets start of with the free stuff shale we..

The Salute Mini For This Year Steam Punk.

I was surprised to get these in the goodie bag this year. These are from the game Maelstrom's Edge and look pretty good.

You can never have enough dice

The free dice this year was also steam punk themed dice (bottom of pick). I also got a nice D10 dice for free. I did purchase however the Blood Bowl dice and the blank D6 as they will come in handy no doubt.

As I was one of the first 50 people at the Siege Studios stand i got these brushes.

Free brushes. Don't mind if i do.

I also got this mini from the GCN stand.

So what did I buy you ask well here go's......

This lovely looking show exclusive Jezebel Mini from Prodos games...

This fantastic looking mini from Anvil Industries which is either a black smith with an anvil or a bloke with a sword on fire...Which one am I going to make I wonder...

I found a company called Midlam Minitures which produced some lovely metal minis perfect for any fantasy games like frostgrave at £2 a model!

So a Barbarian, Bard, 2 Thieves and a Towns Folk walk into a bar.

Talking of cheap how about these two fro 20p each..

Now I must admit I saw this on the web from Crooked Dice and I loved them so when I saw them up close I had to get them..

Doooo, Raaaaa..Egon!

Who you gunna call The Paranormal Exerminators of course.... They even had an Ecto 1 on sale but I resisted just.. I did see how ever that TTCombat make a fire station....

I may have to check out ZTV for some rules...

After my KOW demo I decided to get this as it was going very cheap. I liked it was fast paced and seemed pretty easy to set up and play.

Now I saw this from Hasslefree Miniatures and had to get it..... I cant figure out who he is supposed to be though?

I think he has forgotten some rules again..

Now salute from me would not be complete with out getting some hobby bits and terrain so here go's..

Some nice flesh colours working out for £1 each
Forests

I have been wanting to try these for my bases to see if they can give a bit more life to them as seen as I now have the Wargames Bakery die to create my own bases now this might give a nice finish.

Run to the hills!

And last but not least some market tables from TTCombat.

So as you can see this year was very fruitful in terms of hobby supplies. I defiantly have plenty to be getting on with. Now I just have to find a place to store it all..

So heres to Salute 2017....

Are GW Returning To Their Old Games?

A poster popped up this morning around the web and on forums introducing a new Specialist Design Studio from Games Workshop. This Studio will be specialising in GW's older game systems such As Blood Bowl, Mordheim, Battle Fleet Gothic and even handling The Lord Of The Rings.

With Total War Hammer and Mordheim games coming out soon on PC and the fact that this has taken GW a long time to support these games is it a little to late or will the legions of fans still playing these games be rejoicing?

There's a lots of games already out there at the moment that have the flavour and style of these older GW games. So the question is are GW trying to make a quick buck on these old IP's or will they fully support theses systems?  This will be one of the big sticking points for gamers as well as the price point as the market is getting cheaper.

Also what happens to the living rule books for games such as Blood Bowl will these become obsolete as GW rewrites the rules of their games to feel more up to date? Will these be limited addition games?

Time will tell what GW will do with this new studio as well as how they carry on with Lord Of The Rings. If GW can pull this off right this could be a very successful move.

What do you think?
