Age OF Sigmar: Storm Strike Starter Set

So I was on Ebay (as you do) and saw this box for Age of Sigmar Storm strike. It's one of the starter sets for Age Of Sigmar.
One thing Games Workshop has done over the past couple of years is to produce 3 differnt starter sets at 3 differnt price points for both AOS and Warhammer 40k so you don't have to invest loads on money into a huge ox set to try the game.

This box set is priced around £25 and for what you get inside its great (as you will see) the main reason I bought this was for the Nighthaunt miniatures as I want them for a warband in War Cry, I already have some chainrasps from my Shadespire set so adding these would get me a warband.

So lets take a look inside.

Unboxing: The Walking Dead Here's Negan By Mantic Games

Mantic Games are back with a new game called Here's Negan.

Set in the World of The Walking Dead the game is focused around a group of Survivors that must work together to clear out and secure an abandoned factory called The Sanctuary while holding off walkers.
Players must complete their objectives before the treat level reaches its maximum or the game is over.
Over seeing this task is Negan himself checking that all things are moving forward and rewarding those who pleases him and punishing that don't.

As players progress their actions will grant them reputation points and at the end the player with the highest reputation will be Negan's Lieutenant.
So you better have eyes at the back of your head as there could be a double cross awaiting you....

The game is set for 1-5 players and has narrative scenarios you can play as a one off or as a campaign and with the more players the difficulty of the situation rises.

Lets have a look whats inside the box.

The best thing about Heroquest.....

Gamers of a certain age have found memoeries of starting their journeys with Heroquest who can forget this advert!

Well during the days before ebay (yes a long time ago it feels) I picked up a copy of Heroquest for I think £5 at the time I must have been 10.
I remember playing with the mins and board playing my own games not to the rules as alias I had no one to play the game with as no one I knew like gaming...

After a time it went in the loft and when I went to surch for it again a few years later.....It was gone thrown out after my parents decided to clear out the loft....Nooooo...

Its now 20 odd years later and I have been wanting to get a dungeon crawler for a while. As I was in the market for this type of game I thought I would have a look out for Heroquest.

The price of the game has skyrocketed so after scouted Ebay for a while for a bargain my luck came in..

I put a cheeky bid in for a copy of Heroquest the Advanced Quest edition wth extra minis and quests and I won...

Lets just say I was eager for it to arrive..

Blood Bowl! My light post Christmas hobby time

During the Christmas holidays I was lucky enough to get my hands on Blood Bowl and as is during the season you sit in front of the TV watching some re run of a show so I thought right I have had enough lets get my new Blood Bowl Minis out.

The minis look great and clicked together like the assault on black reach kit but with tons more detail and much easier to fit together.

You get the template sprue but also 4 spurs 2 for the human team and 2 for the Orc team. Both spurs  are the same so you get two of the same model design.

It was lucky that I bought some new clippers before chrsitmas which came in handy and I can tell you these were so easy to clip. I used some glue to make sure the mins won't go any where but to be honest you can get away with not doing that.

The character design  of the models are great the size of the Orcs are huge and their poses are menacing while the human team look slim compared.

Once all the parts were separated for each mini it did not take long to build the teams as the guide in the rule book is clear and it also helps you only need to click 3 bits together to make a model.

Here is some close ups of the human team.

Here are some close ups of the Orc team.

As I said you see there is tons of detail on these minis and they will be a treat to paint. The use of coloured plastic is also a great idea so you can play once you have built the minis right away and not get confused what minis what on the pitch.

Looking forward in Blood Bowls future today I have seen the new Dwarf Team from the Warhammer World open day and all I can say is this is that GW are on fire at the moment.

So now its time to get garb a cup of tea and get cracking on the rule book.

Warmachine and Hordes Battlebox MK3

Finally my new battle boxes arrived in the post after a long wait and a missed delivery there in my hands!

The boxes look great and are a nice weight and come with lots of goodies.

I cracked open the boxes and dived right in.

Both boxes come with a mini rule book which now include rules at the back for both games as well as a nice faction booklet with information on tactics and what to get next as well as a painting guide. You also get a handy ruler if you don't have one.

Also in the box you get a 2 X 2 game mat which has a slightly laminated feel and has two sides one blank for you starter games and the other side with numbers and letters. Then second side is used with the basic training guide to help you with different aspects of the game like moving and shooting.

Now for the good stuff the minis. The boxes come with 4 dice and some black Privateer Press tokens which you could only get from Iron Arena play. Being black in colour there is going to be issues using a marker for the spell tokens. Also you get in the box the MK3 stat cards and a cardboard hill and not forgetting a brand new caster and warlock for each faction.

One thing I think could have been added to this box was a guide to help put these minis together especially for beginners as the jacks and trolls where all in one bag it could be little confusing for a beginner.

I was very happy with the content of these boxes but I felt a bit let down when it came to my Khador faction deck.

As you can see these were not cut properly and text has been cut off.

From reading different post on forums etc the faction deck issue has not just happened to me with reports of some cards were missing or some not having any text at on them. I have also heard some reports of missing parts and holes in some of the plastic minis but by the looks of things here I think I am ok.
It looks to me as though there was a bad batch with some of the boxes due to high demand for them. I hope that PP can sort theses issues out as I would like to get a new faction deck.

Overall though the boxes are great value as you can find them now for under £30 and is a great way to get everything you need to start the game and thats why so many people want them!

Well now i'm off to put the minis together.
