This past Sunday Riot Ville Live 2020 came to town with a whole day of Warhammer Fantasy 8th Edition.
Players turned up with their armies ready to roll dice.
Tables were set and players were ready.
Nurgle Vs Chaos Warriors of Nurgle
Ogres Vs Orks
Dark Elfs Vs Empire
Lizard Men vs Dwarfs
My first game was Dwarfs vs Orks
Orks gets first turn but not before I have my Gyro move up the field.
The Orks move forward towards the Dwarfs Gun line which start to do their work killing off the fast Spider Riders.
The Gyro moves over steams the Spiders that were aiming for the Organ Gun.
While the Orks and Dwarfs were fighting it out the games on the other tables were heating up..
Back on our table I am still taking shots at the Orks but they cast the Hand of Mork which allows a whole unit to move anywhere with in 24 inches, but in an error (Alister has not played a lot of games)
puts his Black Orks unit right in front of my Thunderers which will not stop them from shooting them..
Meanwhile the Orks tie up the Gyro Copter with the Spider Riders.
The table has created a funnel and all the Orks can do is run as fast as they can up the table and try not to get shot at.
Seeing the incoming danger to the Thunders from the Black Orcs that have suddenly appeared the Hammerers turn ready for a charge.
I mange to put some fire power from the Thunderers and Organ gu into the Black Orcs.
On the other side of the board I shot the remaining Spider Riders as the Giant charges in only for it to be shot down before it makes it into combat.
The Hammerers go in the flank in support of the terrified Thunderers.
Mean while the Gyro kills off the Spider Riders that were in close combat and seeing this the Ork pack decides they have had enough and flee.
The Hammerers do lots of damage and kill everything besides the Ork Shaman who runs for the hills.
There we call it game to the Dwarfs..
Thats a lot of Orc casualties.
Alister and I had a good chat about the game after and gave some advice on how to get his units up the field by using his Spider Riders as shields but the main thing we both had fun.
On the other tables the second round of games begin.
Chaos Vs Nurgle Daemons
Empire Vs Chaos
Orcs Vs Lizard Men
Dwarfs Vs Ogres
My second game was facing Dark Elfs.
We both set up and were ready to go.
I vanguard move my Gyro up to try and stop all those double tap shots..
The Dark Elfs get first turn and start to move up the field.
Luckily the Fast Cavalry is in my sight line and the Thunderers let rip and the combination of a miscast spell `and fire power manage to take out some of the threat.
Not happy with this the Fast Cav move forwards.
The Long Bows start to deal damage to my right flank of Thunderers and having a 48 inch range the Thunderers need to move.
As expected my Gyro does not last long and is shot out of the sky.
As expected my Gyro does not last long and is shot out of the sky.
The Fast Cav dose not last long either as I dispel a doom bolt on my unit and put a load of fire into them which eventually takes the unit out.
My Gun line has now moved into a position which is a huge trap for the on coming Dark Elfs and seeing this we both know that the Dark Elfs are in a no win situation due to the amount of fire power the Dwarfs will put out.
At this point we call it gentlemens draw due to this but we play out the game.
In the end the Dark Elfs spears move forward not before the Witch leaves the army and miscast and wounds herself and flees.
The Spear Men that are left are as we expected shot and destroyed to end the game.
As we discussed we both had shooting armies and the Fast Cav that I was worried about was basically gifted to me to shot at but again another good game.
On the other tables
As it was nearing lunch we stopped to have a group photo of all the players.
and as a little thank you from the guys who regularly attend Saturday Night Fights we got Riot a gift.
I think he was chuffed.
This is where we called lunch.
Part 2 coming up..
