Unboxing: Blood Bowl Second Season Edition

Good evening sports fans today we entering a brand new season form your favourite fantasy sports game Blood Bowl.

In this edition I unbox Season 2 which features two new teams and an updated rule book.

Let's get ready fans as we dive into the first half.

The first thing you see is the great new art style for this new edition which is more colourful and has a unique character.

Upon opening the box you are met with a lot of coloured plastic.

First up in red plastic is the Imperial Nobility team which consists of 12 players. You get 4 Imperial Retainer Linemen, 4 Bodyguards, 2 Noble Blitzers and 2 Imperial Throwers.

In this edition compared to the 2016 box set you also get star players and some big guys.

For the Imperial Nobility team the star player is Griff Oberwald

You also get a Ogre ready to smash anyone that has the ball.

The second team in the box and in green plastic the Black Orc's with t 12 players which consist of 6 Goblin Bruiser Linemen and 6 Black Orcs

The star player for the Black Orc's is Called Varag Ghoul-Chewer

No Orc team would not be complete with out a Troll right..

Another addition model wise compared to the 2016 box is you get Blood Bowl Referees.
You get a Dwarf and an Elf.

The last of the plastic and a return from the 2016 box is the same templates for throws, throw ins and scattering the ball.

Just before we get to half time we get this divider with the Blood Bowl box art and all of the current teams available to buy and play.

Half Time....

And now for our sponsors...

Don't forget to follow Shaggy Wargaming on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook now back to the second half.

We are back and the players have been patched up and ready for the second half.

In the bottom half of the box you will find a hard back 136 page rule book which explains all the rules for the game, How to run a league and develop your team with updated stats for all teams, players and star players.
This has a much fuller rule set than the previous edition and feels that you have a more complete game.

This rule book I found much easier on the eye to read due to the layout of the text and the art work which I think is fantastic.

I said in a previous post as I'm dyslexic it can be a little tricky if a book is text heavy and if the lay out is a certain style but this was really easy for me to read and enjoy.

There are also two useful cheat sheets which will help with your games for quick rule references.

Not forgetting two sets of dice that match the colour of the teams as well as all the bases you need for your teams, instructions on how to build your new teams and the transfers sheet.

Last but not least are the reversible dug outs which are smaller then the 2016 editions which helps with table space and the pitches are designed in the style of the classic astro granite and grass.

So my thoughts.

Blood Bowl Second Season Edition is a huge improvement in terms of what you get in the box compared to the 2016 edition.
There are more players for your teams right away so you have far more option out of the box with out having to spend any more on miniatures.
If you are looking for more teams the card which divider the separates the contents in the box not only keeps things safe but shows you all the current teams available so you can pick your next team to coach.

The rule books redesign and layout is so much more colourful and easier to read and feels more complete as you have all the teams stats and how to make leagues compered to past edition as it was just based around the Human and Orc team you had in the box.
This means if you already have Blood Bowl teams you are ready to go.

The RRP is £85 in the UK but you can get good discounts from your local FLGS which can bring the price down to around £65.

I for one am looking forward to painting these miniatures and getting them on the astro granite.

Have you picked up Blood Bowl yet? Who's your favourite team and whats your favourite thing about the new box set?
What advice would you give a new coach like me starting Blood Bowl?
