Blood Bowl! My light post Christmas hobby time

During the Christmas holidays I was lucky enough to get my hands on Blood Bowl and as is during the season you sit in front of the TV watching some re run of a show so I thought right I have had enough lets get my new Blood Bowl Minis out.

The minis look great and clicked together like the assault on black reach kit but with tons more detail and much easier to fit together.

You get the template sprue but also 4 spurs 2 for the human team and 2 for the Orc team. Both spurs  are the same so you get two of the same model design.

It was lucky that I bought some new clippers before chrsitmas which came in handy and I can tell you these were so easy to clip. I used some glue to make sure the mins won't go any where but to be honest you can get away with not doing that.

The character design  of the models are great the size of the Orcs are huge and their poses are menacing while the human team look slim compared.

Once all the parts were separated for each mini it did not take long to build the teams as the guide in the rule book is clear and it also helps you only need to click 3 bits together to make a model.

Here is some close ups of the human team.

Here are some close ups of the Orc team.

As I said you see there is tons of detail on these minis and they will be a treat to paint. The use of coloured plastic is also a great idea so you can play once you have built the minis right away and not get confused what minis what on the pitch.

Looking forward in Blood Bowls future today I have seen the new Dwarf Team from the Warhammer World open day and all I can say is this is that GW are on fire at the moment.

So now its time to get garb a cup of tea and get cracking on the rule book.

Nah Nah Nah Nah Nah Nah Nah Nah.... Suicide Squad Game

As I walked in the door form work I get a little letter through the door saying a parcel has been left outside of all places in the rain...Thanks delivery guys!!

I knew straight away what is was and here it is. Batman Miniatures Games Suicide Squad!!

You are treated to straight away with a huge box that has a heavy bulk to it and great art work.

Opening it up you are greeted with the rule book, stat cards, cardboard tokens and buildings.

Underneath is the Batman exclusive pre order card for Batflick..Now to the main event underneath the foam are all the metal goodies.

Bat flick!!

Look at all that metal!

I'm Batman

Slipknot, Killer Croc, Diablo, Harley

The Joker

I love the way they have kept to the colour pallet of the film and made the plastic so it can hold the minis in individual sections.

Only a few of these minis are one piece models the rest are a mixture of many arms half bodies and no heads that need assembling by a steady hand.

A cool feature for Dead Shot is you have a choice of two heads with or with out the mask but I think it would be best to choose one as you will need really small magnets for each head.

Also in here are the set of Joker dice with bullet holes and Joker face on the 6...Strangely they have a horrible chemical smell to them? Its not Joker toxin I hope!!

The bases in this box are all textured the same so should be nice and easy to paint and keep the models all in theme.

At the bottom is Captain Boomerang which I only found later on.

I can't find me unicorn...

I think Knight Models has done a great job with this box set. The art work and design of the set is awesome and the minis do look good but obviously the test is what they look like when a non studio painter puts paint on them.

The full mini sized rule book looks great and is in full of colour carrying on the theme of the box art and covers all rules in the Batman game with special scenarios for the Suicide Squad minis.

I was also happy to find that this rule book has the game board that made me go oooooh a few years ago Jokers Carnival!

I can't wait to assemble all of these minis and start playing but I do have some ideas for these guys...

As soon as I saw them I wanted to convert them in to these robot dudes who play synths...

What do you think a good idea?

If your into Batman like I am this is worth a look..I know there is mixed feelings about the film its self but this is a good gateway to the Batman Game or as you can see by the way the box is designed I am sure you can be more then happy keeping it as a standalone game.

Well I think its time to suit up and put on my best batman voice and get assembling...

Hang on theres a knock at the door... be right back...

I got game!

Finally on Saturday I had my first games of Warmachine MK3 and wow Khador can have sooooo many jacks.

The ability to power up you jacks at the start of your tern really helps Khador and not starve a war casters of vital focus.

Prof I played a game!

Getting packed in the middle.

After playing a couple of games I can see terrain is a big thing now and pathfinder is going to be very handy. Also Kodiaks they are awesome now the ability to vent steam when ever and clear lines is great.

Game 2

I do have to get used to being more aggressive in play and not afraid to take a load of jacks in a list as infantry seems to be more of a distraction. One unit that has been upgraded is the Man o Wars which are great when added with the UA no knockdown yes please.

So for my next game I am preparing my Troolbloods starting off with the battle box and then adding my new unit of Fenn Blades which were a pleasure to build and my heavy which I received for my birthday this year...magnets ahoy!

The Trolls getting ready!

I am looking forward to my next games which I hope to be this weekend..its like they say about buses not had a game in along time now a couple in a few weeks!

Random Painted Minis

In this world of a tech driven society we are used to accumulating tons of usb keys and hard drives. Gone are they days of floppy disk (for the young that was a stored disk that held a massive 1.5 mb of data) where you had a good bit of space to write what was on it.

After sorting some of them out I found some old pics of some of the first models I painted when I got back into the hobby. These were my first proper go at painting as I never really had done it before so I just dived in.

First up was the agent that came with the Assault on Black Reach set which I did in a non traditional colour as I did not have ultramarine blue. No washes were used at all.

After I pained that set thats when I wanted to start Chaos marines and got to work on the old metal Deamon Prince.

I remember I had to use some filler (I did not know about green stuff yet) to fill in the gaps between the neck and shoulders and pined the hand and sword which was not easy.

Next up was one of my first Chaos Captains for my Nurgle Army.

Last but not least was Typhus. I decided to start having a go at making better bases and as this was such a cool model I wanted the base to reflect that so I used sand stone for this.

I went to town making sure there was blood oozing from the cracks and added zombie pieces to the base as well as the little avatar.

It was a nice surprise to see these pics as I have not seen them in a long time. It was also a nice reminder of where I started and looking at how I have learnt a few tricks to help me along the way.

Good one shaggy.

At salute this year I popped over to Hasslefree miniatures and picked up their Wosley miniature aka a fella very smiler to a cartoon character who solves crimes with a big dog...

I have gone for the classic look for this guy and added some turf and texture paint to the base. This mini will defiantly be used as my model of choice for any role playing game or zombie apocolypes game.

Check out Hasslefree miniatures here.
