Review: Your Model Box Bushido January

Today on the blog we have the January box from the monthly miniature  subscription service
Your Model Box.

This months theme we go to the far east and enter the world of Bushido.

Lets take a look inside.

As I opening the box were some Game Color paints from vallejo which were Rojo Sanguina Bloody Red and Tierra Earth.

These colours will make a good basses as a colour palate for this theme.

Next was something that took me by surprise was a paint brush with Model Box branded on it.
This is a size 2 Rosemary and Co brush.

I can tell you from experience Rosemary and Co brushes are fantastic value for money and are work horses.
I reviewed some of Rosemary and Co brushes last year and I have been using the same brushes ever since.
If you would like to see that review click the link here.

Next up we have some miniatures.

First up is a miniature from Footsore Miniatures from their Waring Clans game.

This game is set around the Sengoku Jidal period.

This metal miniature has some tiny parts so be carful when you assemble it.

Next we have two Samurai miniatures from Steel Fist Miniatures.

These miniatures represents the Daimyo Samurai and Ashigaru.
These fought in the Sengoku civil wars.

As subscribers to Your Model Box would know they have a mascot called Rox which comes as an exclusive miniature based on the theme of the month.
Well this month I was surprised to see no Rox but another miniature.

The exclusive miniature this month a beautiful miniature of Yasuke the African Samurai.
This is a really nice resin miniature with crisp detail.

The history of Yasuke is intreating as he is known as the first foreign Samurai.
Their is even going to be a movie about him starting Black Panther Star Chadwick Bowsman.

Lastly there is the flayer for this month with all the information about the companies and miniatures as well as the sneak peek of next months theme Sci Fantasy.

and of course the sweet treat this month is some Fruit Tella

So my thoughts..

I do know to much about this history of Bushido or the miniature ranges and games that are available so this was a nice eduction on both.

The miniatures from Footsore and Steel Fist miniatures are a nice classic style of Samurai which  are easily recognised and personally will be nice to paint something differnt.

The addition of the Yasuke miniature from Your Model Box is not only a fine miniature which has some really nice detail but also gave me a history lesson about the man that its based on.

The Paints again are another fantastic addition and are a complimentary colour palate for this months theme. Not only that a surprise of a Rosemary and Co brush is a nice touch and as I said before I personally uses these brushes since I reviewed them last year and are still going strong.
