Review: Grabbelcast Terrain

Today on the blog I have a review of terrain all the way from Russia!

Yes the nice people over at Grabblecast have sent over to Shaggy Wargaming towers a sample of there fine terrain that will work well for Shadespire, but thats not all Grabblcast have to offer.

Let's take a look.

Grabbelcast are a terrain company that sculpt, mould and cast miniatures as well as terrain and create products for tabletop games such as D&D, Warahammer age of sigma, Warhammer 40,000, War Cry, Necromunda, Mordheim, XI Age, Frostgrave, Kings of War, Blood and Plunder and many others.

As you can see Grabblecast has you covered for pretty much any game you are playing right now.
On Grabblecast website you will be able to navigate your way through and buy products by range.
Oh and they produces square and round bases too..

The sample sets that I have to review here is a mixture from the Creatures Cave set, Giant Mushroom Forest, One Pet of the Dark Lord hex and a Dungeon Hatch hex and the Volcanos and Stalagmites set. Not only that Grabblecast were kind enough to send me some MDF hexes.

First up here are some examples of the what you will get in the Creatures Cave set and Volcanos and Stalagmites.

As you can see in the pictures these are really nice castings and have lots of areas perfect for detailing and dry brushing. The Creature Cave set with the hidden treasure chest and creatures eggs (could it be a dragon) look really great and would make good objectives in your games.

The Volcanic Pools with the little bubbles I really like as theses could be easy painted as some kind of poisonous pools from a strange world.

Next up we have the terrain for the Giant Mushroom Forest.

This set came with four tiny toad stools, 2 large toad stools and a double headed toad stool.
The caps need gluing to the steams  and with a bit of superglue and they seem to be holding fine.

These would be great if you wanted to make an enchanted forest (Grabblecast also has a section on the website for this type of terrain) or if you playing Shadespire make some Mollog inspired blocking terrain.

Now if  you like to play D&D or Beastgrave you need some deadly monstrous hexes for the unsuspecting adventure to fall into. Well Grabblecast has you covered with The Pet of the Dark Lord hex and the Dungeon Trap Hex.

These are chunky prices and have some nice detail that will be great for painting. I really like how the tentacles of the monster are creeping out of the hex.

As you can see just from a few sets you get quite a lot and there is multiple uses for these in your games for blocking line of sight, objective markers or if you really want to make a theme for your gaming table or dungeon.

With these sets I have focused on using them in Shadespire so here are a few pictures of how these would look in a game.

As you can see just from this demonstration the terrain looks great with the board even with out paint and gives a great 3D effect and scale to your games.

So my thoughts..
I am impressed with the scale and detail of each piece and the quality of the casting.

In this review I focused on how you could use these sets in Shadespire as terrain but as you can see the sky is the limit or should I say your imagination as all these products could be used as scatter terrain in most fantasy games.
You could even just take the Creatures Cave and Giant Mushroom Forest set and create a new sci fi world.

For those gamers who don't have time to paint Grabblecast also have some preprinted terrain on offer which may suite your games and needs.

Grabblecast are updating their product lines all the time and have a list so far that covers from Magic Woods to Modern terrain, Cargo scatter terrain as barrels, Skulls (who doesn't need them) and if you have your own 3D printer you can buy and download some STL files.

Just to highlight one of the new products Garbbelcast have just made is a Kraken which looks fantastic and perfect for a scenery piece which comes with or with out a boat.

As you can tell I really like what Grabblecast are producing and if the rest of their product range is of this quality and detail more tabletop gamers will be very happy when purchasing from this company.

If you are looking for some new terrain for you gaming table or want to make some really good blocking hexs for Shadespire visit Grabblecasts website
